The Osaka Integrated Resort (IR) development project in Japan, which is a major focus of the global casino industry, is progressing smoothly as of August 2026. The city of Osaka has begun full-scale construction on the stabilization of reclaimed land in the Yumeshima area, along with major road expansions and subway extensions leading to the resort complex. This project is being promoted as a comprehensive resort model that goes beyond a simple casino facility to include international conference centers, hotels, and exhibition halls.
Currently, Osaka is focusing all its efforts on building infrastructure for a 2030 opening. In particular, ground reinforcement work within the resort site is largely complete, and preparations for vertical construction are underway. In a joint statement, Osaka Prefecture and Osaka City stated that this project will play a key role in revitalizing the local economy and attracting tourists, and they are ensuring meticulous schedule management. However, as it is a large-scale project, they are also gathering feedback from the local community regarding environmental impact assessments and transportation network expansion.
