The Osaka Integrated Resort (IR) project in Japan, which is expected to reshape the landscape of the international casino industry, is progressing smoothly as of August 2026. Last month, the Japanese government reaffirmed its infrastructure support plan to ensure the seamless opening of the Osaka IR through a meeting of relevant ministries. This project aims to be a large-scale complex resort that goes beyond a simple casino, encompassing international conference halls, hotels, and exhibition facilities.
On Yumeshima, the artificial island in Osaka, ground reinforcement work and the expansion of transportation networks to access the resort are currently being intensively carried out. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan recently announced that the extension of the Osaka Metro Chuo Line and road network improvements are proceeding as planned. The Japanese government's vision is to complete the casino complex by 2030, building upon the transportation infrastructure verified during the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. Local media outlets expect this project to become a core pillar of Japan's tourism economy.
