Following the reorganization of his secretariat, Kangwon Land CEO Kim Do-kyun has replaced three key department heads responsible for planning, human resources, and auditing.
As Kangwon Land is currently conducting a comprehensive organizational review through an 'Organizational Diagnosis Task Force,' observers suggest this move signals the beginning of a major organizational restructuring and large-scale innovation in personnel.
According to Kangwon Land on the 15th, Kang Chang-dae (Level 1 Senior Manager) has been appointed as Head of the Planning and Coordination Office, Lee Sung-yeol (Level 1 Senior Manager) as Head of the Talent Management Office, and Choi Ik-soon (Level 1 Senior Manager) as Head of the Audit Office.
Prior to these appointments, Kang served in the Leisure Sales Team, Lee was the Secretary General of the ESG Policy Team, and Choi was the Head of the Ethical Management Team.
The Planning and Coordination Office oversees management strategy, organization, and budget; the Talent Management Office handles HR, training, and organizational culture; and the Audit Office is responsible for internal controls, integrity, and ethical management.
CEO Kim’s decision to replace these key department heads just 13 days after taking office is interpreted as a strategic move to realign the planning, HR, and audit lines before embarking on full-scale management innovation.
Previously, on the 9th, CEO Kim appointed Kim Young-hwan, formerly of the K-HIT Future Strategy Team, as the Secretariat Team Leader, and assigned staff from performance innovation, future strategy, external cooperation, and HR to the secretariat.
On the 10th, he initiated an open recruitment process for the vacant position of Head of the Management Support Division.
With the secretariat reorganization, the search for a new division head, the replacement of key department heads, and the activation of the Organizational Diagnosis TF, all eyes are now on the upcoming restructuring and further personnel appointments.
In particular, attention is focused on the potential for organizational restructuring that addresses the current acting-head system in major divisions like the casino and resort, while also reflecting new initiatives such as the second casino floor, hotel and condo renovations, AI transformation (AX), and the K-HIT project.
The key point to watch in CEO Kim’s future appointments will be whether he prioritizes expertise, performance, and field experience over seniority to drive meaningful reform.
