In celebration of '2026 Gambling Problem Awareness Week,' Kangwon Land (CEO Kim Do-kyun) held the '2026 Gangwon-do Youth Gambling Problem Prevention Joint Action Day' at the High1 Palace Hotel on the 16th, taking steps to strengthen community cooperation for youth gambling prevention.

Co-hosted by the Kangwon Land KLACC (Kangwon Land Addiction Care Center) and the Kangwon Land Social Contribution Foundation, the event saw participation from the Gangwon State Office of Education, the Gangwon Provincial Police Agency, and the Korea Center on Gambling Problems and Prevention. The event was attended by approximately 150 stakeholders, including teachers, school police officers, and professional counselors from across the Gangwon region, reflecting high interest in resolving youth gambling issues.

During the event, the 'Youth Gambling Prevention System Intervention Model' and related educational materials, which have been proactively implemented in Jeongseon-area schools, were introduced in detail. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on multi-faceted cooperation strategies to expand these models to school sites throughout the Gangwon region.

In the following presentation session, the Korea Center on Gambling Problems and Prevention shared insights on the 'Current Status and Response Strategies for Youth Gambling Problems in Gangwon,' covering key characteristics of gambling, risk signals, and cases of initial response and connection to professional counseling institutions. Subsequently, KLACC received a positive response for its presentation on 'Youth Gambling Prevention Cooperation Systems and Expansion Strategies,' based on its accumulated prevention education content and outreach training know-how since 2007. Additionally, a hands-on booth featuring student-led gambling prevention campaigns drew significant attention.

Participating organizations adopted a joint action message—'Closer prevention, stronger education, tighter protection, and more reliable cooperation'—and pledged to build a robust gambling prevention safety net by leveraging the expertise of each institution.

Kim Won-guk, Acting Head of the Casino Division at Kangwon Land, stated, "The issue of youth gambling is a critical task that must be addressed not only by schools but also by families and the local community. We will work closely with related agencies to share field-oriented prevention programs and provide full support to ensure these initiatives spread across all educational sites in Gangwon Province."
