A creative works contest and an outstanding prevention instructor selection competition, co-organized by Kangwon Land and the ROK Army to prevent illegal gambling among soldiers, have concluded with high levels of engagement.

Notably, submissions for this year's Safety Culture Creative Works Contest nearly doubled compared to last year, with entries in the illegal gambling prevention category accounting for over 40% of the total, signaling a growing interest in gambling prevention education on the front lines.

Kangwon Land (CEO Kim Do-kyun) attended the '2026 ROK Army Safety Culture Creative Works Contest' and the 'Illegal Gambling Prevention Instructor Selection Competition' held at the ROK Army Headquarters Military Police Safety Training Center on the 28th, where they presented special awards to outstanding participants.

This contest was a collaborative effort between Kangwon Land, the ROK Army Headquarters Military Police Office, and the Korea Anti-Drug Movement Headquarters, while the instructor selection competition was co-organized by Kangwon Land and the ROK Army Military Police Office.

This year, a total of 306 entries were received for the Safety Culture Creative Works Contest, a 94.9% increase from the 157 entries received last year.

In particular, 124 entries were submitted in the illegal gambling prevention category out of 10 total fields, accounting for 40.5% of the total. This is significant as it demonstrates that soldiers are recognizing the dangers of illegal gambling and are actively participating in prevention initiatives.

In the concurrently held prevention instructor selection competition, outstanding instructors capable of effectively communicating the risks and prevention methods of illegal gambling to soldiers in the field were identified and rewarded.

Kangwon Land supported the initiative by providing certificates and prize money to the selected instructors, helping to enhance the military's internal capacity for autonomous prevention education.

This approach, where prevention instructors conduct training directly within the military units where soldiers live, is noteworthy as it moves beyond one-off lectures by external experts toward sustainable prevention activities.

During the awards ceremony, two Kangwon Land employees were also honored with commendations from the Chief of the ROK Army Military Police for their contributions to illegal gambling prevention activities within the military.

Kangwon Land CEO Kim Do-kyun stated, "Helping our young soldiers avoid the temptation of illegal gambling so they can complete their service in good health is a task for our entire society," adding, "We will continue to work closely with relevant agencies to promote prevention activities optimized for the military environment."

Meanwhile, the winning entries from this contest will be used as promotional and educational materials for illegal gambling prevention within the military. An exhibition linked to the 'Military Illegal Gambling Prevention Forum,' scheduled for the first half of next year, is also being planned.

This cooperation between Kangwon Land and the ROK Army is significant in that it encourages young soldiers to recognize the dangers of illegal gambling and participate in prevention activities, while establishing a sustainable foundation for prevention education within the military.
