The Korea Center on Gambling Problems and Prevention (Director Shin Mi-kyung) announced on the 28th that it had conducted a mural creation social contribution activity in Masian Village, Incheon, to expand opportunities for social participation for those recovering from gambling problems and to foster coexistence with the local community.
This activity involved individuals in recovery from gambling issues and staff from the Prevention and Healing Center working together to paint village murals under the guidance and planning of young artists.
By creating murals to boost tourism and improve the landscape of Masian Village, the project provided a new cultural space for the local community while offering those in recovery a chance to gain a sense of achievement and social engagement through volunteer work.
Furthermore, the project held additional significance as a collaborative social contribution effort that linked support for gambling recovery, regional development, and youth artistic activities, providing young artists with valuable creative opportunities.
Director Shin Mi-kyung stated, "This mural project is highly meaningful as it allowed those in recovery, our staff, and the local community to come together and practice the values of coexistence. We will continue to support the healthy social participation of those in recovery and expand social contribution activities that make a tangible impact on local communities."
Meanwhile, the Prevention and Healing Center provides gambling prevention, treatment, and counseling services through 15 regional centers nationwide. Individuals and families struggling with gambling issues can receive free counseling via telephone (1336), text (#1336), or the KakaoTalk chatbot.
